Odisha CM Mohan Majhi distributes 6,390 appointment letters in ‘Nijukti Mela’

Bhubaneswar, Feb 7 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday handed over appointment letters to 6,390 eligible candidates under nine different government departments during a Nijukti Mela (Job Fair) held at Capital High School Ground here.

CM Majhi distributed as many as 2,878 appointment letters against various vacant posts under the Health & Family Welfare Department on Friday.

Similarly, 2,767 appointment letters have been distributed under the School & Mass Education Department as well.

During his address at the programme, CM Majhi said, “a skilled and quality human resources pool is required to accelerate and strengthen the flow of development”.

He also said that the BJP government has so far given appointment letters to more than 26,000 persons during seven Nijukti Mela (job fairs) organised in the last seven months.

The Chief Minister also noted that the government aims to fill up 65,000 vacant posts in various government departments in two years.

“A government job is not only the means for life and livelihood but a large medium to serve the people. The common people with a lot of expectations from the government and the administration visit a government office for the resolution of their problems. It should be your aim and duty to resolve the problems of people when they approach you,” said Majhi.

“All the responsibilities at the grassroots level are on your shoulders and I firmly believe that you will be able to discharge the duty successfully. I also urge all of you to work for the welfare of the common people,” he added.

CM Majhi further added that his government is also taking all steps to increase employment opportunities in the private sector through programmes like Utkarsh Odisha.

He stated that the government is expected to attract investments worth around Rs 5 lakh crore targeting to create more than 3.5 lakh job opportunities in this year’s Utkarsh Odisha event. However, the state received investment proposals to the tune of Rs 17 lakh crore due to the double engine government and the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who himself inaugurated the Utkarsh Odisha event on January 28.

He noted that out of the proposals received during the event, MoUs signed for as many as 145 proposals with worth over Rs 13 lakh crore investment which is expected to create 10 lakhs job opportunities.

The Chief Minister said that his government is giving importance to the employment sector to realise the goal of making Odisha a prosperous state by 2036 and the growth engine of a developed India by 2047.

The government has set a target to provide 1.5 lakh jobs in the government sector in the next five years.
