Ahmedabad, Feb 27 (IANS) Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) will host the GCCI Gujarat Sustainability Summit 2025 on March 1, 2025. The event in the state will provide a dedicated platform for businesses to engage in sustainability discussions and collaborate on actionable strategies.
Organised by the GCCI ESG Task Force, the summit aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices, with a strong emphasis on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Given India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, the event will align industries with national and global sustainability objectives, preparing them for an increasingly eco-conscious market.
The summit will feature over 30 speakers, including sustainability heads from Adani Group and Arvind Group, as well as international knowledge partners from the United Kingdom, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Their expertise will help businesses understand and implement sustainability-driven growth strategies.
More than 20 leading institutions, including IIM Ahmedabad, IIT Gandhinagar, the Quality Council of India, Gujarat Technological University (GTU), and Ahmedabad University, will also contribute insights, ensuring a well-rounded discussion on sustainability challenges and opportunities across sectors.
Speaking about the event, GCCI President Sandeep Engineer described it as a “transformational moment” for Gujarat’s industries, stressing that sustainability is no longer an option but a necessity for long-term business success.
He emphasised that the summit would bridge knowledge gaps and equip businesses with the tools needed to integrate sustainability into their core operations.
GCCI Vice President Apurva Shah called the initiative groundbreaking, highlighting its role in driving sustainable innovation and ensuring that MSMEs, which form the backbone of Gujarat’s economy, are prepared to meet global sustainability standards.
He urged industry stakeholders to collaborate in making Gujarat a model for sustainable industrial development.
The summit will address key themes such as Gujarat’s vision for sustainability and the pathways to achieving the 2070 net-zero target, the impact of global sustainability trends on Indian businesses, transitioning the real estate sector to sustainable and profitable models, the economics of a low-carbon transition, and building climate resilience in MSMEs.
These discussions will equip businesses with practical strategies to develop sustainability roadmaps tailored to their operations.
In a demonstration of its commitment to sustainability, GCCI has pledged to make the GCCI Gujarat Sustainability Summit 2025 an Operational Net Zero event. Every aspect of the summit, including travel and logistics, will be mapped and measured to minimise its carbon footprint, setting an example for businesses to follow.
