Shimla, Nov 27 (IANS) The Winter Session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly will begin on December 18. A total of four sessions are proposed in the Session to be held in Tapovan in Dharamsala in Kangra district, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said here on Wednesday.
The Session would continue till December 21. Pathania said the proposal related to the Session has been sent for recommendation to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.
The notification of the Winter Session would be issued as soon as the Governor approves it.
The Speaker returned from a foreign tour on Tuesday night and as he returned from abroad, he has started preparations for organising the Winter Session of the Assembly. He said during the foreign tour itself, he had instructed the Kangra Deputy Commissioner over the phone to start preparations for the Assembly session.
He said he would soon visit Kangra to take stock of the preparations for the Winter Session.
The main Opposition BJP is likely to put the government on the mat. The list of issues that it is likely to be raised include ‘toilet tax’, closing hotels of the Tourism Development Corporation and the government’s failure to fulfill poll guarantees.
Last year, a total of five meetings were held during the Winter Session of the Assembly. Whereas, this time, four meetings have been proposed for the Session.
In 2023, the Winter Session was held from December 19 to 23. Last year, the work productivity in the Winter Session was 132 per cent, official sources said.
The proceedings of the Assembly lasted 33 hours.
During that session, 471 questions were asked by members of the House.
Of these, 348 questions were starred and 123 questions were unstarred. The government had provided answers to information on 260 starred and 119 unstarred questions.
