Nagpur, September 24: To celebrate the festive season, more than 900 pre-primary & Grade 1 students of six schools run by the Akanksha Foundation, in partnership with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, created greeting cards that will be placed in select coffee shops across the city.
The students, aged between 4 and 6 years designed the cards in an art workshop that saw them explore their creativity through different types of art forms focusing on social emotional learning (like lines & patterns, self explanation etc)
Art holds a significant place in Akanksha’s pedagogical approach to ensure students’ socio-emotional well-being and nurture critical thinking. Art by Akanksha students and alumni has been showcased at platforms such as the United Nations General Assembly, Aaghaz-e-Dosti’s Indo-Pak Peace Calendar and Kala Ghoda in Mumbai, among others.
The workshop was held across all six Akanksha schools – Babulban NMC English Medium School, Near Ambedkar Square, CA Road; Rambhau Mhalginagar NMC English Medium School, Hudkeshwar Road; Late Baburaoji; Bobade NMC English Medium School, Chinchbhuvan; Rani Durgavati NMC English Medium School, Vaishali Nagar; Late Gopalrao Motghare NMC English Medium School, Gandhibagh; and Ramnagar NMC English Medium School, Ramnagar.
The cards will be placed at leading restaurants & cafes like Mochas Cafe, Crossword Book stores,Bouffage Cafe And Bistro, Firangish Cafe & Courtyard, Checkers, The Breakfast Story and will be available from 10th October, 2022 onwards. The cards celebrate the spirit of giving and are complimentary for the city’s residents.
This is the first year that Akanksha schools have opened their classrooms in Nagpur. The Akanksha Foundation started six schools in Nagpur in 2021, but the classes were conducted online due to the pandemic.
The Akanksha Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that educates children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Akanksha runs 26 schools, based on a public-private partnership model, in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur catering to a network of 13,000 students and 4,600 alumni.
